NORTH WEST CANCER RESEARCH VISIT - This was a very interesting tour looking at the amazing work going on in their labs. A cheque for £50 was presented by the WI to help keep up the work which will benefit people living in our part of the country by concentrating on some of the more common cancers in our area.
BURSARY – A bursary of £200 towards Denman is available to one applicant (who can then share it with a friend if they wish to). Please apply in writing to Pauline before June.
C.F.W.I .RESOLUTIONS MEETING –Tuesday 25th April, 2-4p.m at White Friars, Chester. Open to all.
CRAFT TASTER – This has been postponed until more details are finalised.
CHATSWORTH – A visit is being planned for Wednesday 6th September for their Style Fashion Exhibition. More details to follow.
FOLLYFIELD VISIT – On Tuesday 25th April at 2.30. Lunch beforehand to be arranged at the Nags Head in Willaston. Meet there at 12 for lunch.
SOUTH WIRRAL GROUP – Friday 26th May, 7.30pm. Gladstone Village Hall, Burton. The entertainment is a band/group of 7 men called the P.M. Session Band. A bit of listening, singing, dancing. Tickets are £4.00. Savoury refreshments and bring own alcohol/non-alcohol and glass. 12 tickets available.
GUIDES COFFEE MORNING – The coffee morning in aid of the Guides will take place on Saturday 25th March from 10 till 12. Volunteers for the kitchen and to provide cakes needed. Board to sign up to tonight.
VINTAGE TEA – Julie is organising this to raise money for wool for the Clickers and their charity knitting. It will be held on Friday 21st July from 2 till 4.
SEGWAY OUTING – Wednesday 28th June. Numbers are limited. Please could you sign the board if you are interested. We will need the payment of £35 at the next meeting. If Philippa can get any discounts nearer the time you will be reimbursed.
AIRBUS – Thursday 17th August at Hawarden Airport, possibly followed by lunch at Chocks Away at the same site.
ST. GEORGE’S HALL – Monday 20th March. Catching the 9.30 bus from Neston to reach the Hall for 11am.
HAUGHTON HALL – Thursday 18th May. Tonight is the last chance to sign up for this as the closing date for tickets is the 20th April.
TREASURE HUNT – Wednesday 12th July organised by the Cheshire Federation. Details in the Cheshire News.
BIRTHDAY DINNER – Wednesday 19th July at Inglewood.
CAROL CONCERT – Planning ahead. This year the carol concert at Chester Cathedral will be held on Wednesday 6th December.
SALES TABLE – Thanks to the members for volunteering to run this. It has been decided that to avoid confusion Pauline will be drawing up a rota of volunteers.
RIVERSIDE CLICKERS – The next meeting will be Thursday 16th March at 2pm at Net’s Cafe. Julie has received a large donation of wool for those knitting for charity. The Age UK Big Knit in conjunction with Innocent is extended till 31st July when they hope to reach their target of 2 million bottle hats. Any hats can be given to Philippa to pass on.
RIVERSIDE READERS – The next meeting of the book club is on Monday 3rd April at 7.30pm at Judith Whiteway’s house. We will be reading “I Capture The Castle” by Dodie Smith.
RIVERSIDE DINERS – The Diners had a very good meal at the Hinderton Arms. Pesto at The Dibbinsdale Inn is the next venue on Thursday 6th April at 6.30pm. Board available tonight.
RIVERSIDE REELERS – The live production of the opera Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini is being shown at the Odeon Bromborough on Thursday 30th March. Sandra has the tickets for those who have signed up.
RIVERSIDE DRAMA GROUP – The next meeting will be on Wednesday 22nd March at 7.30 at The Methodist Church Hall.
RIVERSIDE WRITERS – The next creative writing session will be on Tuesday 21st March at 2pm at Pauline’s house.
RIVERSIDE CRAFTERS – The next meeting will be on Wednesday 22nd March at 6.30pm at Sheila’s house.
DARTS – The darts team is playing in the South Wirral Inter WI competition on the 20th March. Good Luck.
QUIZ – Well done to the quiz team for getting through to the final which will be held on Friday 7th April. Good Luck.
The speaker for the April meeting will be Claire Adams talking about Wiltshire Farm Foods.
